Dear Students, Parents, Guardians, and Community Members:
My name is Howard Parmentier and I would like to introduce myself as the new Superintendent of Manistique Area Schools. It is my sincere pleasure and honor to become a member of this school and community during this exciting time in education. Although I have just recently started my position here, it is already apparent to me that this is a caring and welcoming community. I am looking forward to meeting your child (children) on my first day.
Prior to coming to Manistique Area Schools my professional experience consisted of working in several Michigan School Districts including; Chassell Township Schools (over 3 years), Hancock Public Schools (3 years), Flint Community Schools (nearly 14 years), Detroit Public Schools (2 years) and the Macomb Intermediate School District (3 years). I was the superintendent/principal at Chassell Township Schools before coming to Manistique. I was elementary principal prior to Chassell and I have also held the position of teacher in many different grade levels in both general and special education classrooms.
I feel that my responsibility as the superintendent is to ensure your child receives a quality education in a safe and respectful environment. Parents, teachers, support staff, administration, and community all have an important role to encourage our children to become active learners. It is my sincere desire to provide increased opportunities for all our students to acquire the skills necessary to become productive citizens in an ever-changing society.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns, or just to introduce yourself. Through a close partnership between everyone associated with Manistique Area Schools, I am confident we can make our school an even better place for our students to learn.
“Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.”
